Multiple foals, dead from the harsh elements and no access to shelter, discarded in the open... their bodies torn apart by scavengers just days after birth.
That’s what we witnessed at a kill buyer feedlot, and sadly, it’s just one example of the abuse and neglect we’ve witnessed this year. All year, Animals’ Angels has been carrying out specific horse slaughter investigations with the goal of presenting a full and in-depth, up-to-date overview of this industry to the US Senate. The investigations were carried out at key auctions, kill buyer feedlots, and slaughter plants as well as during transit, to document what a horse trapped in the slaughter pipeline endures. In addition to our investigations, AA has also conducted extensive research into official documents received from US, Canadian and Mexican authorities, which has also revealed horrific shortcomings both in animal protection as well as food safety.
We hope our report on the abuse, neglect, and murder that is happening to America’s horses will convince the US Senate to pass the SAFE Act and eliminate this predatory industry for good. But as we investigate, there is something you can do to help. We need you to demand that the US Senate pass the SAFE Act today, permanently banning horse slaughter in the US and prohibiting the export of horses for slaughter in other countries.
This is one of the most effective ways we can protect American horses. Now is the time to put pressure on Congress and get the SAFE Act passed.
